Rohde Nielsen Completes 2.85 Million m³ Beach Nourishment Project on Australia’s Gold Coast

Posted on October 21, 2026

Following the severe coastal erosion caused by Tropical Cyclone Alfred in March 2025, Rohde Nielsen was engaged by the City of Gold Coast to help restore and protect some of Australia’s most iconic beaches.

Completed in October 2026, the beach nourishment project involved the placement of approximately 2.85 million m³ of sand, helping to rebuild the coastline and strengthen their resilience against future coastal erosion.

The works were carried out by Rohde Nielsen’s trailing suction hopper dredger Trud R, supported by survey vessel Rind R.
