RMK Marine has announced that construction has begun on a new shipyard dedicated to yacht building. Located just outside Istanbul in Yalova, the 70,000-square-metre waterfront facility has been designed with sustainability and a holistic vision in mind.

The company views the move as a strategic investment focused on architectural innovation and advanced technical infrastructure and anticipates an increase in its shipbuilding capacity.

“With this new investment project, our facilities in Tuzla, Istanbul will focus entirely on commercial and military projects,” explained RMK Marine CEO Dr. Utku Alanç. “In this way, we will significantly increase both our yacht and shipbuilding capacities through separate, specialised facilities.”

Created with ‘a deep understanding of the unique sensitivities of yacht construction’ RMK Marine explained that its ‘holistic vision’ is reflected throughout. This vision spans from the architectural layout and production flow to human-centred design and material logistics.

“The true value of a shipyard is not defined by its machinery, but by the intellect, craftsmanship and creativity it produces. The new spirit of RMK Yachts is rooted precisely in this perspective,” commented Yachts Director Cüneyt Okcu.

The shipyard is designed with future generations in mind, anticipating the evolving needs of the industry. Energy efficiency, environmentally responsible production methods, and a long-term ecological approach form the core principles of the facility.

To support this vision, the shipyard is being developed in accordance with LEED certification standards, incorporating renewable energy and low-carbon operations. The facility will also feature three 30 by 120-metre hangars for new-build projects, alongside a 40 by 80-metre and a 35 by 55-metre hangar dedicated to refit work.

A 10,000-square-metre open refit area and 700-metres of quay provide ample operational flexibility. Launch and haul-out operations will be supported by two travel lifts with capacities of 720 and 320 tonnes, while a floating dock will accommodate vessels up to 150-metres safely and efficiently.

In order to bring this plan to life, the shipyard will also incorporate extensive social facilities. The company aims to cultivate a strong internal culture with the introduction of specially designed gyms, cafés, training and relaxation zones for staff, alongside guest suites and dedicated hospitality areas for owners and partners.

Other highlights of the development include a yachting museum created in collaboration with the Rahmi M. Koç Museum. Meanwhile, docking and marina facilities covering approximately 5,000 square-metres will be developed in partnership with Setur Marina.

RMK Yachts aims to leave a sustainable and enduring imprint on the global yachting industry with its new shipyard designed to set a benchmark for the future, preserve its value over time, and continuously reinvent itself,” the company concluded.

The Koç Holding company Ark İnşaat is in-charge of the construction of the new shipyard. Relocation to the new site is set to begin in the final quarter of 2026, with full operational capacity targeted for 2027.
