River Rock’s Casino Resort Marina, Va. begins Dredging of Marina

Posted on October 10, 2025

River dredging began on Tuesday at River Rock Casino Resort’s marina to facilitate its re-opening in spring 2026.

The 130-slip facility closed six years ago during COVID-19.

Years of natural sediment deposited by the Fraser River has gradually filled in parts of the marina basin, restricting access and limiting vessel movement.

As part of the dredging project, River Rock is also constructing a 700-square-metre salt marsh to create a fish habitat while improving the “ecological health of the Fraser River shore,” according to a media statement from River Rock.

“The marina project is one component of a multi-faceted capital improvement program at River Rock Casino Resort that began last year and is reimagining the guest experience across the property,” the statement read.

The resort has made several changes over the years, including the opening of Gordon Ramsay Steak, enhancements to its game room and expanded event facilities.
