The rising river levels are also bringing concern to some dredging projects.

Lakewood Association hired a company to dredge the mouth of the river and a couple of the small bays.

The goal is to remove sand bars that make the river shallow, so boats have easier passage as they travel along the river.

For this project, they’re about one third of the way done, but are worried they might get shut down altogether.

Until the army corps tells them to stop, they’ll keep working.

“It doesn’t matter to us, as long as it doesn’t float our barge away, when we’re out there. He’s out there fighting the current to dredge,” Dan Leagjeld, Engineer.

1,900 hundred yards of a sand bar will be removed.

If the project continues as scheduled, it will be complete in a week.
