Rochester, N.Y. – Repairs on Rochester’s Summerville Pier are expected to resume this month.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says repairs to pier lighting and the concrete cap should be completed by next month.
The agency is using funds that are currently available to repair about 600 feet of the Rochester Harbor east pier. It says additional funding would be needed to finish the remaining 400 feet of the nearly 1,000-foot structurally-degraded area.
“We understand that construction has caused impacts to recreation, and we appreciate the community for their support as we repair an aging and severely degraded pier,” USACE Buffalo District Project Manager Lex Barker said in a statement.
The pier was originally built in 1908.
