Rep. Tusler Condemns Governor Evers for Vetoing Brillion Dredging Project

Posted on July 9, 2025

An area state representative had some harsh words for Governor Tony Evers following a partial veto of a project in Brillion.

3rd District Representative Ron Tusler says $70,000 was earmarked in the 2025-27 state budget to dredge the north branch of the Manitowoc River to prevent flooding.

Tusler says dredging the river is something he’s been working on for years and has gotten no help from the state. But because of Evers’ partial veto, he calls it a “stab in the back” to residents.

Tusler says he voted in favor of passing the state budget because Republicans were still able to cut taxes for the middle class and retirees.

The budget also includes money for fixing more rural roads and eliminates 300 positions from the state government, according to the Harrison Republican.

Tusler then says Evers has, “done far more to harm Wisconsin’s environment than he’s done to protect it” by “doing nothing to clean up PFAS, nothing to help flood victims in Brillion, and threatened to destroy farmland with solar panels.

As part of a partial veto of other DNR based projects, Evers said he objects to providing an earmark for a natural resources project when the legislature abandoned its responsibility to reauthorize the Knowles-Nelson Stewardship program in the budget and opted to benefit a few projects.
