Remote Controlled Dragflow Dredge Cleans Coal Mine Tailing Ponds

Remote Controlled Dragflow Dredge

Posted on October 25, 2016

Italy’s Dragflow Srl has supplied a remote controlled dredge for tailing ponds cleaning in Germany.

The RWE open coal mine needed a machine capable of dredging sediments from three ponds where all the storm water of the mine was collected, as well as the water coming from the mining machines.

Dragflow supplied a remote controlled dredge equipped with a high head EL1204HH pump. Two EXEL20 electric cutters have been used in order to dredge sediments effectively, together with a jet-ring that is capable of mixing the fine material through pressurized water jets.

The dredging system has an output of 150 cubic metres per hour at a distance of 200 m, overtaking a 60 m hill. The discharge is located on a conveying belt which takes the material to a specific area inside the mine. The system can be continuously operated by a single operator.
