After a decade of planning, a joint powers board decided Wednesday the dredging project for Lake Zumbro will happen.
Figuring out finances has stalled the multi-million dollar project for years. It was initially estimated at $10 million, then scaled down to $7 million.
However, that dollar amount could decrease. The group is short about $200,000 to get the state’s $3.5 million in matching funds.
The Olmsted Wabasha Lake Zumbro Joint Powers Board held a public hearing Wednesday for the 356 residents and businesses tasked with splitting a $1,617,000 portion of the bill.
