A massive dredging project at the Port of Redwood City has entered a new phase.
The aim of the $12.8 million project is to deepen the channel to greater than 30 feet to allow more vessels to dock at the port. Before the project began, the depth of the Redwood Creek channel was 22 feet, but “a recent study concluded that every ocean going ship that calls at the Port has a loaded design draft greater than 30 feet,” according to a city statement.
