State environmental officials will soon hold a public meeting to discuss the proposed West End Beach Renourishment Project on Dauphin Island.
The meeting, hosted by the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) and the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), is set for Thursday, March 6, at 6 p.m. at the Dauphin Island Community Center.
The project, proposed by the Town of Dauphin Island, aims to restore and stabilize the island’s eroding shoreline. The initiative falls under provisions of Alabama state law and is intended to bolster the beach’s resilience against storms and rising sea levels.
Residents and stakeholders are encouraged to attend and provide input on the pending application. Those interested can review the application materials in person at Dauphin Island Town Hall, ADEM’s Coastal Office in Mobile or ADCNR’s State Lands Division Coastal Office in Spanish Fort during regular business hours. Documents are also available online at www.townofdauphinisland.org/westendnourishment.
