The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, and the city of Arcadia, Wisconsin, will host a community meeting to solicit public input on the scope of its Arcadia flood risk management feasibility study.
The meeting will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at Arcadia High School auditorium, 765 Raider Dr., Arcadia.
The intent of the feasibility study is to identify and evaluate flood risk management alternatives for the city of Arcadia. This community meeting is the first step in the feasibility study process, which is to gather information that should be considered when devising and evaluating alternative plans. Public input will help the Corps and city identify the problems, challenges, opportunities, issues, objectives and constraints surrounding managing flood risk in Arcadia.
The Corps will develop an environmental assessment as part of the feasibility study, as required by the National Environmental Policy Act, or NEPA. The Corps must assess the environmental impacts of alternatives prior to making a recommendation.
Comments concerning the study may also be submitted to Katie Opsahl, Corps planner, by calling (651) 290-5259, via email at katie.m.opsahl@usace.army.mil, or by mail at U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Attn: Regional Planning and Environment Division North, 180 Fifth St. E., Suite 700, St. Paul, Minnesota 55101-1678. Comments will become part of the study’s public record and be used in the development of the study’s environmental review document.
Commenters should exercise care before submitting personal information with their comments.
