An agreement has been signed between Brazilian and European parties on the development and construction of a new port in Brazil’s southeastern state of Espirito Santo.
The main mover behind the project is the joint venture Porto Central JV which comprises the Port of Rotterdam in the Netherlands and TPK (Terminal Presidente Kennedy) Logistica, which is owned by a group of Brazilian companies with mining, construction and offshore interests.
Porto Central is the name of the proposed port.
Under the new agreement Porto Central JV has signed a deal with Dutch dredging firm Van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractors.
The aim is to build a deep-water port with multiple terminals that will be able to receive the largest bulk carriers and tankers up to VLCCs.
