Dredging of the Port Pirie River will soon commence, as part of a multi million dollar upgrade to the foreshore.
Local council has been conducting site checks with contractor Maritime Constructions in preparation for dredging the riverbed near the boat ramp.
Plans for the $2 million upgrade include a new rock wall and another boat ramp.
As a result of the works, the boat ramp will be unavailable for use for up to eight weeks.
In the meantime, the boat ramp on the eastern side of Pirie River, across John Pirie Bridge, will be available for use.
