Port of Rotterdam: Port Decarbonisation of the Year Award

Posted on July 12, 2023

The Port Decarbonisation of the Year Award recognises a port anywhere in the world that has shown leadership in addressing maritime decarbonisation

Billed as the largest shore power installation in Europe at the continent’s busiest port, the new shore power system was commissioned in March 2022 in the Port of Rotterdam. It is the result of a partnership between Eneco, the Port of Rotterdam Authority and Heerema Marine Contractors, owner of the crane vessels Sleipnir and Thialf.

Among the largest of their type, the two offshore vessels support offshore oil and gas projects such as platform installations and decommissioning – and offshore renewables work.

For its efforts, the Port of Rotterdam is a contender to be nominated for Port Decarbonisation of the Year Award.

The Port Decarbonisation of the Year Award will be presented at Riviera Maritime Media’s Maritime Decarbonisation Conference, Europe to be held 26-27 September 2023 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Nominate your port now
