The Port of Los Angeles has opened new on- and off-ramps near the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro, California, as work continues on a $130 million project to reconfigure the interchange that provides access to key terminals at the shipping hub.

According to a January 12 release, the port has opened a new northbound on-ramp to Interstate 110, and a new southbound off-ramp from State Route 47 at Front Street/Harbor Boulevard. The Port of Los Angeles also reopened a realigned Knoll Drive, which borders the west side of the facility across the water from Terminal Island and runs parallel to I-110. Several detours are now in place as other construction work continues, with truckers advised to follow posted traffic signs to navigate the area.

Work on the port’s SR 47 Interchange Project started in March 2024, as part of a goal to reduce travel times and ease congestion on the connection between the I-110 freeway and Terminal Island, the Wilmington Waterfront, and the West Basin Container Terminal. The project is expected to wrap up in December 2026.
