President Donald Trump’s Aug. 1 deadline for reciprocal tariffs on U.S. trading partners is less than two weeks away. The tariff uncertainty is having a local impact at the Port of Los Angeles.
Last month, the port had its busiest June ever, with an 8% increase in container traffic from the same month last year. The spike illustrates the concept of “front-loading,” as shippers rush to beat the pending tariffs.
