The Hamburg Port Authority (HPA) and the Maritime and Port Authority Singapore (MPA) have signed a letter of intent to further their collaboration in digitization, decarbonisation, and cyber security.
The letter of intent, signed by Jens Meier, CEO of the HPA, and Teo Eng Dih, CEO of the MPA, represents the start of a strategic relationship between the two port authorities.
The goal is to establish cooperation projects and activities that will improve the efficiency and sustainability of both ports.
The collaboration could centre on pilot projects to ease efficient port calls between Hamburg and Singapore, share knowledge on the implementation of zero-emission fuels, or facilitate the transmission of cyber security information.
Both ports seek to formalise their collaboration through additional agreements.
Jens Meier, CEO of the HPA, said: “The signing of this Letter of Intent with the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore is another important step towards a sustainable and digitalised future for our ports.
“By sharing knowledge and technologies, we can jointly develop innovative solutions that not only increase the efficiency of our port operations but also make an important contribution to decarbonisation and cyber security.”
In September, E.ON opened four charging stations on the premises of HPA.
