Fears of a slowing economy are leading to fewer containers moving across the Charleston waterfront, with the State Ports Authority reporting a nearly 13 percent decline in February compared to the same month a year ago.
Imports, which drove port traffic throughout the pandemic as homebound consumers went on a spending spree, took the biggest hit last month with a 21.6 percent drop at the Port of Charleston’s container terminals.
