Board members of the New Bourbon Regional Port Authority last week voted to execute contracts for rip-rap work on the Riverside Levee and for harbor dredging.
The actions were taken at the Port Authority’s monthly meeting on September 26.
On September 12, bids were opened on both projects, according to project engineer Chris Koehler.
Eight bids were received on the rip-rap work ranging from $374,825 to $557,664. The estimate from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers had been $415,915.
The low bid of $374,825 from C.E. Contracting, Inc., of Ste. Genevieve County was accepted.
Koehler said the company should have its bonding information and other paperwork back to the board “within a week and a half or so.”
Koehler said, weather-permitting, C.E. Contracting should be able to start within three weeks.
Three bids came in on the dredging, ranging from $430,586 to a high of $701,026. The Corps’ estimate, with the option of putting material into the dredge basin, was $467,851.
“This will get that dredge cell No. 2 completely clean,” Koehler said. “The material will be pumped into that. It may not fill it up, but it will brace the level of it substantially.”
McGruder Construction won the bid for the dredging work. McGruder did the most recent dredging job.
