Pilbara Ports achieved a total monthly throughput of 49.5 million tonnes (Mt) in February 2025.
The figure represents a 6 per cent reduction from February 2024.
The Port of Port Hedland reached a monthly throughput of 37.5 Mt, with iron ore exports accounting for 37.3 Mt. This represented a 5 per cent drop in overall throughput from February 2024.
Imports through the Port of Port Hedland reached 183,000 tonnes, up 16 per cent from February 2024.
The Port of Dampier saw a total throughput of 10 Mt, an 18 per cent reduction from February 2024.
Imports through the Port of Dampier reached 93,000 tonnes, a 26 per cent drop from February 2024.
The port noted that several factors influence the fluctuation of throughput, including changes in market conditions, port maintenance operations, and customer needs.
Furthermore, on 12 February, the Port of Port Hedland was closed due to Tropical Cyclone Zelia.
Dampier and Varanus Island ports were also closed on 13 February, owing to Tropical Cyclone Zelia.
In December 2024, Pilbara Ports delivered a total monthly throughput of 66.2 million tonnes (Mt).
