Dredging of the Penang River in Rakiraki is expected to start soon with the tender being re-advertised.
Minister for Waterways, Dr Mahendra Reddy, says the first tender that was put out to dredge the mouth of the Penang River surpassed their estimates.
“That tender we found out that the amount that was tendered was way beyond out estimates which is why we are doing a re-advertisement.”
Dr Reddy says once the tender is awarded, it will take at least three months to complete the job.
