Patimban Port to Operate in Late 2019, Minister Says (Jakarta)

Posted on January 14, 2019

Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said that the Patimban Port construction is progressing as targeted. The port project in Subang, West Java has obtained all required permits and licenses.

Other works, which include reclamation, pier construction, trestles, and sea wall, are expected to be completed on time.

“God willing, the Patimban Port will be ready for use by the end of 2019,” Budi said as published at the Cabinet Secretariat website on Thursday, January 10.

The capacity port, Budi said, is a prestigious project. In its first stage of development, the port will have 3.5mn TEUs. By the third and last development stage, it would have a capacity of 7.5mn TEUs, or the same as Jakarta’s Tanjung Priok Port.

Meanwhile, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil expressed his support for the project’s development. Ridwan believes that in the future, Patimban Port will become a sophisticated infrastructure, especially if combined with the Kertajati Airport.
