PALMYRA TWP. – Palmyra Township supervisors may consider dredging Lake Wallenpaupack in the area of the public beach next fall.

In 2021, Brookfield Renewable is scheduled to lower the lake level substantially, as the power company does every five years for dam maintenance.

Joseph Regenski has property next to the beach and wants to dredge as well. He asked if he could coordinate this with the township.

PA Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) needs to approve dredging first, and this can be a lengthy process, Simons said.

Supervisor Ken Coutts advised it was a good idea given how shallow the lake has become in the area.

Administrator Jo-Ann Rose was asked to contact Brookfield Renewable about what permits will be needed to do the work next year.
