We’re thrilled to receive the Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis (German Sustainability Award) for our innovative low-noise installation method for offshore wind foundations
By applying jetting technology – using high-pressure water jets – we significantly reduce underwater noise during the installation of large monopile foundations. At our German offshore wind farm Gode Wind 3, the low-noise installation method contributed to a 99 % noise reduction compared to the conventional installation method, significantly improving the protection of marine ecosystems.
In its reasoning, the jury highlighted that this innovation “shows how the expansion of renewable energy and the protection of biodiversity can go hand in hand, setting new benchmarks as a potential standard for sustainable offshore wind projects worldwide.”
Martin Méchali, Chief Technology Officer at Ørsted, says: “The technology developed by our colleagues is a true milestone in the further evolution of more environmentally friendly offshore wind installations. Our technology is unique in the market and has the potential to permanently change the way offshore wind power is built out.”
