Ørsted: From Poland across the North Sea: Hornsea 3 platforms are heading for the UK

Posted on February 11, 2026

The first set of ten concrete working platforms for our Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm are headed to the UK’s Port of Tyne from Świnoujście, Poland. The platforms are an integral part of the foundations of an offshore wind farm, designed to withstand the harsh weather conditions out at sea and keep our workers safe. Those are some extreme working conditions!

This is the first of 20 loads of concrete working platforms that that will make the trip across the North Sea at roughly two-week intervals over the next few months.

The platforms were designed by Ørsted and built by AARSLEFF BIZ Sp. z o. o., and the load-out operation in Poland was a joint effort between their own experts and experts from Cadeler and Ørsted.

This marks another milestone towards the construction of Hornsea 3 and Ørsted’s vision of a world that runs entirely on green energy.
