Generating power offshore is one milestone – transporting it safely and efficiently to shore is another critical step
At Baltica 2, we’ve now completed the horizontal directional drilling (HDD) campaign – an important milestone for the project. This advanced installation method allows export cables to pass beneath the shoreline, seamlessly connecting offshore generation with onshore grid infrastructure, without impacting the beach or coastal dunes.
As Ulrik Ankerstjerne Lange, Managing Director for Baltica 2 at Ørsted, says: “Successful installation of the fourth and final HDD marks a significant step forward for the project and reflects the strong coordination and commitment shown across the project team and collaboration with our contractors. We are particularly proud of the strong safety culture we have developed on site during what was a technically demanding operation and the commitment shown by everyone involved”.
