AtTENtion: A decade with Borkum Riffgrund 1.
Ten years ago, we built our first offshore wind farm in Germany, Borkum Riffgrund 1, setting a milestone for the development of wind energy in the North Sea.
What began as a pioneering project is now an integral part of Germany’s energy supply, with innovative solutions that were ahead of their time: from novel foundations, such as one suction bucket jacket, to efficient operational management from the service hub in Norddeich.
Today, the 312 MW wind farm, owned by Ørsted and Greencoat Renewables PLC, is able to power around 320,000 German homes with renewable energy. A strong sign of how innovative technology can make a tangible contribution to security of supply.
