Meal costs

The Orleans Senior Center is changing the cost of its lunches, with the Monday soup and sandwich rising to $4 and the Friday Comfort Kitchen to $6. In addition those wishing to use the van for rides should make appointments by noon two business days before the ride is needed.

Fire grants

Fire Chief Anthony Pike said the Orleans Fire Department was awarded $3,754 for Student Awareness of Fire Education (S.A.F.E) and $2,400 for Senior SAFE grants.

“The (S.A.F.E.) program provides grants to local fire departments to teach fire and life safety to children in schools. The program teaches students to recognize the dangers of fire and the fire hazards of tobacco products through 23 key fire safety behaviors taught in developmentally appropriate ways,” Pike said.

“The Senior SAFE Program provides grants to local fire departments to support fire and safety education to seniors, who are at the highest risk of dying in a fire in the Commonwealth,” the chief added.
