Along the Houston Ship Channel in Galena Park, Texas, Orion delivered full marine structures engineering design and coordination for Targa’s Dock 4 and Dock 2 approach.
This wasn’t just a new dock. It was a full rethink of how the space functions.
We designed and supported:
- A new pile-supported concrete dock with an elevated steel platform
- Dredging to elevation -40.0 ft
- Breasting and mooring for vessels up to 750 ft and 64,000 DWT
- Two 16” loading arms with future expansion built in
- A 20-ton pedestal crane for operational flexibility
- At the same time, we cleared the way for what’s next.
The team led demolition of the eastern portion of the existing dock, including Dock 2A and outdated structures. We then rebuilt the approach as a pile-supported concrete deck that now serves both Dock 2 and Dock 4.
More function. Better flow. Built for real operations.

This project is a strong example of how Orion engineering connects design with execution. Every decision was made with durability, efficiency, and long-term use in mind.
That’s how we approach every project. Practical solutions. Predictable excellence.
