With near constant dredging in Oregon Inlet through the latter part of 2015, a solid channel continues to hold from the ocean bar through the navigation span of the Bonner Bridge.
The most recent survey of the channel shows water depths of 9 to 11 feet for boats to pass through the shoaling caused by the migration of Bodie Island Spit into the waterway.
U.S. Army Corps of Engineers dredges, which have been working since early fall, are scheduled to resume operations in Oregon Inlet next week.
