Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has temporarily replaced the Port of Savanah with the Port of Charleston on its East Mediterranean – America Service (EMA).
The service will begin calling at the North Charleston Terminal in the Port of Charleston for a period of six weeks from 14 January 2022.
The move comes in a bid to aid OOCL’s schedule integrity across its Trans-Atlantic network as backlogs at the Port of Savannah continue.
The amended port rotations for the service are now as follows:
West Bound: Iskenderun (Turkey) – Aliağa (Turkey) – Istanbul (Turkey) – Piraeus (Greece) – Vado Ligure (Italy) – La Spezia (Italy) – Algeciras (Spain)
East Bound: New York (US) – Norfolk (US) – Charleston (US) – Algeciras – Iskenderun
Customers have been recommended to use EC1, EC4 and EC5 services alternatives if they want to use the port for their shipments.
The service will now follow the route of Qingdao (China) – Ningbo (China) – Shanghai (China) – Busan (South Korea) – Cartagena (Columbia) – New York (US) – Norfolk (US) – Wilmington (US) – Charleston (US) – Cartagena – Busan – Qingdao.
