Onezhsky Shipyard Lays Down Self-propelled Hopper Barge of Project HB600

On 14 December 2018, Onezhsky Shipyard (Petrozavodsk, Republic of Karelia) laid down yet another self-propelled hopper barge of Project HB600. The ceremony was attended by RF Transport Minister Yevgeny Ditrikh, says press center of the Karelia Government.

The contract for designing and construction of two 600-cbm hoppers was signed by FSUE Rosmorport and Onezhsky Shipyard on 15 October 2018. The contract value is RUB 520 million.

The ships are intended for operation by Azov-Black Sea and Makhachkala branches of Rosmorport. Under the contract, the ships are to be delivered in September 2020.

65% of equipment on the ships will be of Russian origin. The should has already built two hoppers of Project HB600, 600-cbm hopper Trudovaya delivered to the customer on 27 November 2018 in Temryuk and 900-cbm hopper Silnaya which arrived in Makhachkala on December 9. The Rabochaya hopper is undergoing fitting out and commissioning. Upon completion of the sea trials the ship will be delivered to the customer in the port of Ust-Luga.

Onezhsky Shipbuilding, Ship Repair Yard (Onega Shipyard) was founded in 2002 on the basis of shiprepair facilities of the Belomorsky-Onezhsky Shipping Company, formed in 1944. In 2011, after the enterprise management dismissal the production stopped, and the company went bankrupt. In late 2014 the enterprise was transferred to the state ownership and resumed its shipbuilding / repair activity.
