Eurowind says Asian machines could close the gap between land-based wind and ‘state-subsidised offshore’
A major European onshore wind developer signalled it is open to using Chinese wind turbines, citing the willingness of countries like its home market Denmark to continue subsidies for offshore projects.
Eurowind, based in Denmark but also active in 15 other markets including Germany, Romania and Poland, is focused on land-based renewables, with onshore wind accounting for 80% of the expected production from its 59GW pipeline.
Danish onshore developers have been left cold by the country’s recent decision to restore an element of subsidies to its offshore wind sector following a failed auction, arguing that the move unfairly skews the market towards power from the offshore fleet.
