The City of Oceanside released a dredging update for the Oceanside Harbor and nearby beaches.

OCEANSIDE, CA — Oceanside Harbor dredging preparations started on Monday and the operations to deposit approximately 225,000 to 250,000 cubic yards of clean sand on Oceanside beaches is expected to begin on April 13.

The City of Oceanside has issued the following Harbor Dredge Update.

Plastic dredge pipe was floated to Harbor Beach on April 7 and fencing has been placed around all work areas. ATV’s are being used to lead equipment moving on the beach. A 50′ wide delineated corridor has been established on the beach with signs warning beach users.

Steel pipe is expected to arrive late Friday, April 9. The HR Morris Dredge vessel is expected to arrive on Tuesday, April 13, and commence dredging operations. The Corps is aware of the City’s commitment to fund $600,000 towards additional dredge material to be placed on City beaches. The agreement will need to be approved by the Corps in sufficient time for Manson to modify its dredge plan. The Corps has indicated they should have approval no later than Friday, April 16.

Key dates:

• Monday, April 12: A section of beach south of North Coast Village will be fenced off so that Manson Construction can push existing sand from the beach over an area of exposed rock. Three tractors will be moving sand. The fenced area is necessary to protect the public.

• Tuesday, April 13: Dredging begins. The north area behind North Coast Village will be fenced off and sand will be deposited in that location for two days.

• Thursday, April 15: The south area behind North Coast Village will be fenced off and sand will be deposited in that location for one day

• Friday, April 16: The dredge outfall pipe will be moved to Surfrider Way.
