The Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has partnered with Eleme local government area to upgrade the Onne Port in Rivers state with the aim of replicating the success of the Lagos Port renovation.
Eleme LGA chairman, Hon. Brain Gokpa, met with NPA management, led by port manager, Alhaji A.R. Hassan, to discuss the partnership.
Gokpa pledged security, a conducive environment, and support for NPA’s operations while urging adherence to the Nigerian local content act and youth engagement.
Hassan Thursday expressed gratitude for the cooperation and peaceful disposition of the Eleme people and revealed plans to upgrade Onne Port, backed by the federal government, to match the efficiency of Lagos port.
Youth leaders and stakeholders from Eleme joined the delegation, signaling a collaborative effort to enhance the port’s capacity and service delivery.
