Crews will start dredging the North Saskatchewan Riverin mid-August so barges can ferry pieces of the new Walterdale Bridgeacross the water.

The river needs to be 2.1 metres deep for the two barges to operate properly, project manager Allan Bartman said Thursday.

That will require removing an average of 60 to 80 centimetres of material, less in the middle of the river and more along the edges.
