NEXT GENERATION BREAKS GROUND FOR DEME’S NEW HEADQUARTERS
In a symbolic moment marking the start of construction of DEME’s new headquarters in Beveren- Kruibeke-Zwijndrecht, the groundbreaking ceremony was enthusiastically carried out by children of its employees. Representing the next generation and the future of the company, the youngsters launched the next phase in the transformation of the DEME campus into a modern, sustainable and inspiring workplace.
This milestone forms part of an ambitious redevelopment of the entire campus, with the ambition to create a more cohesive, functional and contemporary work environment for DEME employees.
In line with its ambition to increase energy efficiency and have a completely climate-neutral, modern headquarters, the site is being transformed. Over the coming years, the state-of-the-art headquarters will be built by construction company MBG (part of the CFE Group), designed with a design centered around sustainability, collaboration and well-being. The 7,000-square-meter building will be connected to the campus-wide heating and cooling network, powered by heat pumps and a geothermal energy storage system, significantly reducing energy consumption. The move to the new building is scheduled for the end of 2027.
Alongside the new building, the campus is being redeveloped into a green and vibrant environment. A maritime park will feature landscaped gardens and wadis, reducing paved areas and creating more green, open space. Extensive bicycle facilities, a stop for the Waterbus and more than 300 charging points for electric vehicles are already in place to promote sustainable mobility. Recent additions such as the visitor pavilion DEME Lookout, designed for client and delegation visits, already reflect the company’s commitment to creativity, ingenuity and innovation.
The redevelopment of DEME’s campus underlines the company’s long-term vision and its strong roots near the river Scheldt and the Antwerp harbor area.
