Marine terminals at the Port of New York and New Jersey are on track to increase the number of cranes capable of handling ultra-large container ships by almost half through 2025 as they ready for larger vessels handling cargo from southern and Southeast Asia in the coming years.
Ultra-large container ships, sometimes called super-post-Panamax or mega-max, are generally defined as ships with a nameplate capacity of 18,000 TEUs or more.
