New Jersey will ask the federal government to repair beaches eroded on Long Beach Island during the weekend blizzard as part of the work expected to resume on the fragile coastline this spring.
State Environmental Protection Commissioner Bob Martin said his agency plans to ask the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to repair the newly replenished beaches on Long Beach Island in connection with work scheduled for April or May on the southern end of the Ocean County barrier island.
