Myrtle Beach launches beach renourishment project in Arcadian Shores

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – The city of Myrtle Beach is launching a beach renourishment project in the Arcadian Shores area, marking the first time the area has received sand pumping.

The city partnered with Horry County on the project, which is separate from the federal renourishment project underway in the Grand Strand.

Both projects use the same contractor, Great Lakes Dredge and Dock.

“The important part about getting this area renourished is because one, my public works director says it’s never been renourished before,” said city spokesperson Meredith Denari. “We have residents there for quite some time who have been experiencing steep drop-offs along the beach due to erosion.”
