MYER Companies is proud to announce Michael Bailey, Quality Control Manager has received the American Welding Society’s (AWS) District 09 CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) of the Year Award. This award honors Michael’s outstanding performance and contribution to welding inspection within the Mobile Section of District 09 in 2022.
Founded in 1919, the American Welding Society is a nonprofit organization with the mission to advance welding applications and allied joining and cutting processes worldwide. AWS has developed into 22 districts, each comprised of multiple sections totaling 250, covering the continental U.S. as well as parts of Canada, Mexico and several international sections.
The AWS Board of Directors established the Dalton E. Hamilton Memorial CWI of the Year District Award to honor candidates whose works have gone beyond the section level and are worthy of recognition at the district level. The Hamilton award is given annually by AWS to recognize individuals participating in the Senior Certified Welding Inspector (SCWI) and Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) programs whose inspection, AWS and professional activities have advanced public awareness of both the society and the CWI program while contributing to welding inspection science.
Every year each district holds a district conference where awardees are voted on. The conference is attended by district heads, section heads, AWS staff and district members. In 2022, Michael was one of two people who were voted worthy of receiving the District CWI of the Year award.
