The physical work of the harbor development project in Dharavandhoo island of Baa atoll, has commenced.
This was revealed by the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) on Tuesday.
As such, taking to Twitter to provide the latest update of the project to the public, MTCC revealed that they commenced the physical work for the Dharavandhoo harbor development project on July 23.
MTCC was contracted the project by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on 25 January 2023.
The project was contracted to be completed within 365 days.
MTCC is currently conducting dredging operations for the new harbor basin.
Under the scope of the project, MTCC is required to conduct new harbor basin dredging operations in an area measuring 30,504 cubic meters, as well as maintenance dredging operations in an area of 1,843 cubic meters.
In addition to this, dredging operations will be conducted in an area measuring 4,126 cubic meters for the ramp area as well as 2,301 cubic meters of dredging for the channel.
MTCC will further be constructing a 352-meter breakwater, a revetment measuring 83 meters and a quay wall measuring 248 meters.
The scope of the project also includes a 24-meter groyne, a ramp measuring 10 meters by nine meters and a concrete jetty measuring 140 meters by two meters.
The company is also contracted to install a harbor pavement measuring 2,104 square meters, harbor lights as well as navigational lights.
The Dharavandhoo harbor development project is valued at MVR 55.48 million.
