MOBILE, Ala. – Officials with the city of Mobile announced plans to dredge the lake in Langan Park, also known as Municipal Park.
Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson said the city just finalized an agreement with the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to move forward with the project at the park on Zeigler Boulevard.
The city will use funding from the Restore Act to remove 350,000 cubic yards of sediment from the lake to help improve water quality so the lake can be used for boating and other activities.
Stimpson said this is part of a larger $23 million effort to restore the Three Mile Creek watershed.
Dredging is expected to start later this year.
