MEXICO BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) – Mexico Beach is making strides toward recovery.
The canals have been cleaned significantly since Hurricane Michael and the city plans to have the canal opened from the boat ramp to the second sand bar by April 1.
The city is also working on dredging the waterways. But the work isn’t even close to being over.
“We still have a lot of private property debris, folks are still waiting on insurance, we still have folks who are not sure on the demolition. So we’re gonna be here supporting our citizens until we have it all cleaned up,” said Mexico Beach City Administrator Tanya Castro.
City officials are encouraging citizens with private property debris or demolition needs to go to the city’s website and fill out a right of entry waiver to get help.
