First locally built Cutter Suction Dredger ready for action

Cutter Suction Dredger built locally in Mexico with ECTMarine yard package

The first Mexican-built Cutter Suction Dredger is ready for operation. After a successful commission, this Dutch design dredger will maintain Mexican port infrastructure and help prevent future flooding situations in parts of Mexico.

“This dredger is a Dutch designed ‘Prime Dredge 50’ with a spud carrier”, Johannes de Vreeze, director of operations at ECT Marine explains. “The vessel has been built from the ground up on location by a local shipyard with full design and equipment from ECTMarine.”

Performance and durability

The Prime Dredge 50 is a 20-inch dredger with a total installed power of 1286 kW and a maximum dredging depth of 14 meters. The dredger is equipped with a spud carrier for improved efficiency during operation and customized high-end dredging systems and components to ensure its performance and durability.

Example of excellent cooperation

“This design has been customized to ensure safety standards demanded by the Customer”, De Vreeze says. “Not only have technical aspects of this dredger been customized to fit the application, the work process and cooperation between ECTMarine, the client project team and the Shipyard have also been effectively organized to create this success.”

Timely delivery despite the pandemic

The vessel has been delivered on time despite the logistical challenges caused by the pandemic situation. The success is the result of the close cooperation between the Mexican builder and the ECTMarine team.
