Weathering the winds
Meet Mark, a planner at Ørsted’s Borssele 1 + 2 Offshore Wind Farm, who navigates offshore wind operations to ensure wind turbines run smoothly, delivering renewable energy to homes across the Netherlands.
Since joining Ørsted nearly three years ago, Mark has become a key player in coordinating maintenance activities for offshore wind turbines. His role involves juggling technician schedules, vessel availability, spare parts, and weather conditions to ensure seamless energy delivery.
“Working at Ørsted has been a journey of growth. I’ve learnt to manage complexity and communicate across diverse teams, all the while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.”
Currently, Mark is immersed in planning preventive maintenance campaigns and ad hoc corrective tasks at our offshore wind farm Borssele 1 + 2. In collaboration with onshore technicians, offshore teams, contractors, and marine coordinators, he ensures operations run efficiently and safely.
“The dynamic nature of planning is what makes it exciting. Weather changes, vessel delays, and urgent turbine faults can shift priorities, but that’s also what makes it exciting. No two days are the same, and it feels good to solve challenges that directly contribute to the bigger picture of renewable energy.”
