The McHenry City Council will meet Monday to consider a partnership with the Fox Waterway Agency and fee reductions for the Lincoln Hills subdivision.
Council members will consider an intergovernmental agreement with the waterway agency to complete a dredging project of Boone Lagoon from the Fox River to the Green Street bridge, according to city documents.
Dredging will provide better water flow and access, as well as clean up the lagoon, City Administrator Derik Morefield said in a memo to the council.
The city has not been able to afford the project on its own, but now is looking work with the agency to make it possible. Under the agreement, the city would contract the trucking and store materials removed from the lagoon at its south wastewater treatment plant until it is dried and ready for removal.
The trucking is expected to cost about $160,000, according to city documents. If approved, the project is expected to begin May 1.
The council also will vote on whether to reduce fees for the Lincoln Hills subdivision, which is on about
19 acres and has 36 plots. Five of those plots have yet to be developed.
The city has approved impact fee reductions for other housing complexes, including Oaks at Irish Prairie, Liberty Trails, Patriot Estates and Legend Lakes.
Impact fees, or developer fees, are what residential developers pay to offset the effects of new residents on area schools, parks, the fire department and libraries.
The developer will save $7,961 per four-bedroom home under the proposed fee schedule, according to city documents. If all five are constructed, the total waived amount will be $39,807.
Lincoln Hills, off Lincoln Road near the Fox River, was annexed to the city in 2004.
The council will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 333 S. Green St.
