A construction company has been awarded ten million dollars to re-nourish Folly Beach after hurricane Matthew storm damage.
The U.S Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District, awarded the contract to Marinex Construction Co Inc. They will begin construction on the east side of Folly beach in March and it will end in September.
Contractors will work 24 hours per day, seven days a week, placing nearly 750,000 cubic yards of sand in the damaged areas.
Construction will start at 8th East Street and go through north of Summer Place Road. It will also tie into the timber groin around 1739 East Ashley Avenue.
