Manson Restores Fritchie Marsh in Louisiana

Posted on August 19, 2025

Manson’s Fritchie Marsh Restoration Project aims to strengthen natural storm protection for the surrounding community and restore native habitat to the Louisiana area. The initiative reclaims approximately 300 acres of marshland for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) New Orleans District.

In December 2024, Manson partnered with amphibious equipment specialist Wilson Coastal Development to construct earthen containment dikes—berms or walls designed to prevent spills and runoff. This perimeter work spanned three months, laying the groundwork for the dredging phase.

Upon completion of the dikes, Manson deployed the cutter suction dredge ROBERT M WHITE in April 2025 to excavate approximately 2.1 million CY of material from a borrow site within Lake Pontchartrain. Crews installed 5.1 miles of subaqueous pipeline to distribute the dredged material into designated marsh creation cells.

Simultaneously, amphibious equipment specialist FROGCO used marsh buggies and amphibious excavators to maintain the dikes throughout the dredging operations.

Manson successfully completed dredging in July 2025.
