Louisiana Coastal Protection Authority Highlights Successful Project From Dredging

CPRA’s largest restoration project to date, the 13-mile Caminada Headlands project restored a vital barrier between Port Fourchon and the Gulf of Mexico, providing storm surge protection for the nation’s leading energy port. The project restored 1,060 acres using 8.84 million cubic yards of dredged sand from the Gulf of Mexico. 

This is another great example of a Louisiana Coastal Master Plan project that delivers multiple benefits: restores land, provides habitat, and increases protection from storm surge events. Watch 30 years of satellite imagery of the project area. #DWH10#DeepwaterHorizon
